Week 4 Press Report

The leading pack was shuffled in Week Four.

Breakaway taking over the lead one point ahead of Arbory and Copy Shop “A” whose “B” team dropped back into fourth position.

Travellers “B” opened up a four point lead over Foxdale “B” at the top of Division Two whereas the top division vulnerability of Travellers “A” started to show despite the continuing best efforts of the battling Paul Nelson.

Looking around the room:-

Although Arbory beat Copy Shop “B” 9-1, man of the match was Copy Shop’s Sean Drewry for a terrific win over the otherwise unstoppable Mike Tamarov.

Foxdale “A” versus Breakaway “A”. Although the 7-3 win took Breakaway to the top, with Ruth Bailey dismissing Mason Mclarney 11-6 : 5-11 : 11-3 : 11-3 and Rebecca Bayley accounting for Darren Smethurst (11-2 : 11-3 : 11-9) and also Paul Corran (11-6 : 13-11 : 11-9) this fixture was shaping up to be the Ladies Day until Rebecca let Mason back in as 2-0 lead became 15-17 fifth set loss.

Paul Nelson the only winner for two man Travellers against Copy Shop “A” as he overcame Sean Drewry at deuce in the deciding fifth.

Tower 7 v Strathallan 3. Tim Baker won all his. For Strathallan, Andy Horne and Julian Briercliffe won one each and combined to take the doubles.

 

In Division Two, Foxdale “B” emerged 6-4 winners over Peel “A” with Andy Mclarney beating Les Wilson to add one and Neil Quane adding two to Mike Bayley’s treble.

Otherwise Division Two scorelines were either 9-1 (Tower over Peel “B”) or 10-0 (Salmon River Spinners over Travellers “C” : Travellers “B” over Peel “B” : and Tower “B” over Tower “C”).

 

Regarding scorelines, it was a similar story in Division Three. With a 9-1 result for Copy Shop over Fortress, otherwise it was 10-0 all the way for Copy Shop “C” over IOM Junior Development 1, for Peel “C” over IOM Junior Development 2, and for Breakaway “B” over Travellers “D”.
