In Division Two of the Table Tennis league G Ward D continue to dominate. In their latest matches they defeated Market Bosworth 2 by 9 sets to 1 and followed this up with a 7 sets to 3 victory over Mkt Bosworth 1. These results see them on 134 pts from 17 games, thirty pts clear of Hit ‘n’ Hope in second place with 120pts and G Ward C third on 100 pts.
Cat H continue to push up the table with another fine win over Cat F. Steve Crutchley (Cat H) remaining unbeaten again. The final score being 8 sets to 2 in favour of Cat H.
Queen’s Barwell raced into a 4 sets to 2 lead over G Ward C only to see that lead slip away as GWC fought back to 4 sets to 3. Chris Thomas (GWC) overcoming Jaqueline Flavell (QB) to close the gap. The eighth game between Steve Lawton (QB) and Rob Webster (GWC) both unbeaten was to prove crucial, with Lawson coming out on top winning 11-7 in the fourth. Liam Davies (GWC) won the ninth set against Flavell to bring the scores to 5 to 4 in favour of Queens. Then Lawton and Flavell took to doubles and the victory.
Hit’n’Hope overcame Cat E by 8 sets to 2. In their next match Hit’n’Hope proved too strong again beating Cat F by 8 sets to 2. Ian Nixon winning his three for Hit’n’Hope.
G Ward F defeated Market Bosworth 1 by 2sets to 8. Man of the match was James Walker (GWF) claiming a maximum including a fine win over John Veasey in a close five game set finally taking the fifth game 9-11.
GWC and GWF contested a very close match with no fewer than 8 sets going to either four or five games. The match was close all the way with Rob Webster (GWC) defeating Dick Jenkins (GWF) in the decisive game. The final score GWC 6 –GWF 4.
