Goons move to the top

Cat ‘A ‘saw off their “B” team by 8 sets to 2 in the Hinckley Table Tennis Division One. Rhys Emery starring for Cat ’A’ winning his three   matches. They followed this up with a close win against Barlestone ‘A’ finally running out winners by 6 sets to 4, this despite an almost solo effort from Barlestone’s Adam Pettitt who won his three.

Goons reignited their season with a fine win over Hugglescote Rams by 7sets to 2. Jason Woodfield took all of his games whilst team-mates Ian Whetherley and John Szostak both won two. Barry Taylor collecting two wins for Rams. Goons followed up this victory with a 10 sets to nil defeat of G Ward ‘B’ to leap up the table. A further 10 sets to 0 victory, over Nalgo sees them at the top of the table for now.

Nalgo overcame Queen’s ‘C’ by 9 sets to 1, Kevin Edwards and Dave Daniels taking maximums for them. They took a second victory by beating Cat ‘B’ by 7 sets to 3. Daniels again in unbeatable form.

G Ward ‘A’ saw off Barlestone ‘B’ by 7 sets to 3. Mark Perkins winning his three whilst Jon Jacom(Barl B) winning two for the home side.  G Ward ‘A’ then went down to a surprise defeat at the hands of Cat ‘A’ Rhys Emery took all three of his matches and with team-mate Pete Jamieson winning two. The usually reliable Mark Perkins (GWA) winning only one of his games.

Barlestone ‘B’ fought hard when they visited Hugglescote Rams before succumbing by 6 sets to 4. Phil Jones (Rams) winning all three whilst Jacom and Norman Weaver took two each for Barlestone.
