Ethan Walsh top

Ethan Walsh is part of the blossoming “Walsh Dynasty” living in Stevenage who are leading players in Hertfordshire. Ethan won the Hertfordshire Schools Under 13 Table Tennnis Finals in Watford in January qualifying him to go forward to the Nationals at Tipton Sports Academy on Saturday 25th April 2015. With 47 other U13 county champion boys at Tipton he had a stiff task in his quest to become champion. This year at the finals there was a buzz around Ethan as being number one seed he was the one to beat. In the first round he came up against a top German schoolboy who is temporarily in the UK. The German boy is very highly ranked and this looked to be a tough match for Ethan. However, he managed to stay mentally strong and having lost the first game came through 3 - 1. In the end this proved to be the hardest match for him. Eventually he came up against Zaiim Premji of London North in the semi finals and Louis Moyes of Norfolk in the final where he had too much class winning in three straight games. Ethan commented  "At the start of the day I was a bit dodgy but I started playing quite well in the later stages. In the semi-final I had Zaiim Premji and he took a game off me and played really well. But that helped me be warmed up and ready for the final."

Due to Ethan's success winning the under 13's National schools event he has been picked to play for England Under 14 Boys in the forthcoming Schools Table Tennis International to be held in Perth, Scotland, from  Friday 26th June to Sunday 28th June, 2015. The other countries taking part are Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Guernsey, Jersey and Isle of Man. He also has the National Championships coming up which he has won 2 years in a row.

Ethan is now the top player in the UK for his age and vying for the top spot in Europe.
