   Crown & Sceptre C   3 - 7   Adeyfield B

An important match for both teams, in different ways, with C&C C still in with a theoretical chance of avoiding relegation, whilst the visitors are involved in the tight five way battle at the top of the table!

Unfortunately for the home team, the unlikely win that would have been needed to maintain their slim survival hopes was beyond them, though they gave second placed Adeyfield B a very tough battle, and indeed went 2-0 up early in the evening.  First up, Alex Hamilton found himself two games down to Martyn Ford, but dug deep and battled to a five game win.  He was followed by Ian Cooper, who edged out Trevor McFarlane over four games.  However, Martin Johnson started the tables turning with a four game win over Brian Burton, and Adeyfield B continued the trend by winning all the remaining singles, to go 7-2 up.  The last set was the closest, as Trevor and Alex fought out a very tight five gamer, with Trevor finally shading it 13-11.  However, the home team still had some fight left, and the doubles was nip and tuck all the way, as one team and then the other edged ahead, with C&S C finally sneaking it 11-9 at the death.  The result probably leaves both teams slightly disappointed, as it leaves C&S C with too much of a gap to make up on the safety of 6th place, whilst Adeyfield B dropped from 2nd to 3rd, as C&S B's big 10-0 win over relegated Northchurch A leap-frogged them back to the top of the table.  Previous leaders, Adeyfield C, dropped to second place, but only two points back from the new leaders, after their 6-4 win at McAlpine, and one point ahead of Adeyfield B.
