Match Report Week 4

Premier Division

Ladies were dominant at Warden Park tonight.

Letitia McMullen Emma Torkington, Sally Hughes in the Premier and Annabel Bridger and Samantha Stoner in Conference

Legends lose top spot after they were defeated 5-4 by Divergents. For Divergents Emma Torkington defeated Andrew Walker and Brendon Bennett. Emma’s defeat of Andrew Walker was the final game of the match and both players needed the win for victory. Emma won the thrilling match 11-8 in the fifth to earn her team the 5-4 win. Daniel Pound also defeated both Andrew Walker and Brandon Bennett. Sally Hughes had superb win over Brendon Bennett in a tight four setter. For TT Legends Letitia McMullan again won all three singles while Andrew Walker won one. The shock of the match was Legends Top Player Brendon Bennett in losing all three singles. This loss by TT Legends gave Horsham Spinners the opportunity to go top of the premier.

Horsham Spinners go top of the premier by three points when they defeated Ping Panthers 9-0. For Spinners Rory Scott, Gary Wilson and Graham Beaney it was three all-round but looking at the scores it was a hard-earned win with both Sasha O’Halloran and Steven Ive taking sets and Edward Harvey taking a set off Rory Scott.

Dynamos with Richard Caddy and Dennis Hayden three wins apiece and Tony Rowell with two defeated Crawley Community eight games to one. While for Crawley Community it was one win for Minesh Agnihotri who also went to five with Richard Caddy.

The teams Hang Em High and Crawley Knights had to postpone their match this week.
    

Conference Division One

King Pongs go equal top with Pingwins with both on 23 points. This week King Pongs defeated Spinderella’s 6-3. Kings Paul Brinkhurst swept all before him in winning all three singles, Nikita Kalyazin stepped in with two and Darius Mayhew with one to complete the win. For Spinderella’s it was two for Viv Cole who only lost to Paul Brinkhurst. John Bridger won one and lost two, one in the fourth set and one in the fifth.

Thunderbolts pushed aside Magiks to win 8-1. It was three for both David Metcalfe and Andy Steel and a welcome back to Samantha Stoner who won two. For Magiks who this week lost their magic the only win came from the bat of Mel Sims. 

New Avengers moved up to number four in the division with a 7-2 win over Blade Runners.For New Avengers it was three for Annabel Bridger their Guest player and two apiece for Robert and Luke Goff. Blade Runners Jennifer Watkins defeated both Robert Goff and Luke Goff in five sets for her two wins and only lost to Annabel Bridger.

The Final match in this division saw an exciting 5-4 match between X Men and Pingwins. For X Men’s Robert Hoare it was a fine treble with Colin Cooper and Tom Christophersen winning one each. Pingwins junior player, Dan Polhill won two and David Polhill also won two.
