Table Tennis Report Matchday Three

Premier Division

TT Legend are proving why they lead the premier division by defeating the bottom team Crawley Community 9-0. It was a treble for Brandon Bennett, (Brandon Bennett could be the player to beat)? Stuart Vincent and Charlie Usher also won three. Crawley Community Brett Holt, Ismail Saleem and Christophe Dupuis are finding this division both exiting and challenging.

Crawley Knights went down 2-7 to Horsham Spinners with Rory Scott getting the only treble of the night and team mates Gary Wilson plus Lynne Trussell getting two. (Spinners will be working hard to reduce the lead of leaders TT Legend). Fawzi Yousif was the winner for the Knights, defeating Spinners Gary Wilson and Lynne Trussell. This leaves Spinners still in second place.

An even match saw Dynamos Defeat Ping Panthers five games to four. Dynamos Richard Cosens winning two and losing one in the fifth 11-7, Matthew Caddy also won two and lost one in the fifth, Dennis Hayden won one and lost one 15-17 in the fifth. For Ping Panthers Edward Harvey despite winning three was still on the losing side with team mate Jeff Triggs winning one.

Hang Em High are hanging on to the third spot by one point over Divergents who they defeated this week 6-3. It was a match of drama as the first game saw Divergents Daniel Pound defeat Ben Worley 8-11,13-11, 11-13 , 11-8, 11-9. Daniel then went on to defeat Andrew Sharland in straight sets. For Hang Em High Michael Bridger was on great form and was named Player of the match with three wins. For his team mates Andrew Sharland had two and Ben Worley one,


Conference Division

No easy games in this division with lots of matches going to four and five sets.

Top of the division are Pingwins they defeated Blade Runners 6-3. The highlight of the match was the awaited game between the top two juniors in this division Dan Polhill for Pingwins and Oscar Wiseman for Blade Runners. In an absorbing battle Dan came out the winner over Oscar 11-8, 4-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9. For Pingwins, Dan Polhill came away with three wins David Polhill with two wins and Matthew Chapman with one win leaving Pingwins victory over Blade Runners Six games to three. For Blade Runners Oscar Wiseman won two and Keith Johnson one.

King Pongs were in fine form as they defeated New Avengers 6-3. It was three apiece for Darius Mayhew and Jacob Allonby, with again, close games for Junior Holly Cole. It was one win each for New Avengers Luke Goff, Robert Goff and Prevesh Ramnath. 

Another tight match saw Thunderbolts defeat X Men five games to four. Result for Thunderbolts, David Metcalfe two wins Andy Steel two wins and Jim Griffin one win. X Men’s Angus Ogg was the only player to win three singles with Tom Christophersen winning one.

Yet another close match with Spinderellas and Magiks the result was 5-4 to Spinderellas. Player of the match was John Bridger with three wins and Annabel Bridger with two wins. Magiks Mel Sims with two wins, Phil Harvey and Alistair Blue won one each
