Match Number Eight

Premier Division

Horsham Spinners appear to be running away with the premier division, following a 9-0 win over Crawley Community. It was trebles all round for Spinners Rory Scott, Lynne Trussell and Graham Beaney with Rory Scott named player of the match. Crawley Community’s Brett Holt and Morgan Turner both played well to take a set off Spinners Lynne Trussell. 

Divergents Vs Ping Panthers, Divergents may have come away 9-0 winners but some very exiting matches to four and fine sets tells a different story. Trebles it may be for Divergents team of Emma Torkington, Sally Hughes and Daniel Pound but Panthers Steve Ive took a set off Both Emma Torkington and Daniel Pound, Sasha O’Halloran with her attacking game took a set of Emma Torkington and Edward Harvey lost 9-11 in the fifth to Daniel Pound. This win puts Divergents a comfortable second behind the leaders. 

Again another close exciting match saw Crawley Knights come away 5-4 winners against Dynamos with seven out of nine games going to four and five sets. For Crawley Knights three for man of the match Josef Krakovsky plus two for Freddy Goodall.  For Dynamos a hard earned two from Matthew Caddy and one apiece for Richard Caddy one for Tony Rowell which included Tony losing to Josef Krakovsky 20-18, 11-4, 11-13, 10-12, 8-11. 


Conference Division One

Tough at the top!

Thanks to a treble from Nikita Kalyazin plus two from Darius Mayhew, King Pongs came away with a 5-4 win over Thunderbolts to keep their lead at the top of the division. For Thunderbolts Andy Steel was in good form, losing only one. Jim Griffin and David Metcalfe won one apiece.

 

Still holding second place are Pingwins, despite losing 4-5 this week to Spinderellas. For Spinderella’s player of the match Viv Cole won three singles with Kate Bridger and Karin Kunrath with one each. For Pingwins it was two apiece for David and Dan Polhill. Third player Matthew Chapman took both Viv Cole and Karin Kunrath to four sets. 

X Men move into third with a 6-3 win over Blade Runners who could only field two players. For X Men it was two wins and a walk over for Angus Ogg, one win and a walker for Robert Hoare plus a walkover for Colin Cooper. For Blade Runners up and coming junior Oscar Wiseman it was two wins losing only to the experienced veteran Angus Ogg. Blade Runners Jennifer Watkins won a great battle with X Mens Colin Cooper 17-15 in the fifth. 

New Avengers had a great 7-2 win over Magiks with three wins apiece for Avengers Robert Goff and Guest player John Bridger. Prevesh Ramnath was the other winner for Avengers. Magiks Kevin Deacon and Alistair Blue won one game each.
