Table Tennis Report matches 14

Owing to absent players the top of the table clash between Hang Em High and Assassins had to be put on hold.

This allowed St Andrews to move into second place. Playing Ping Panthers St Andrews came away 8-2 winners. For St Andrews it was a treble for Brendon Bennett plus two apiece for Terry Dean and Michael Robinson with the doubles for Brendon and Michael over Alan Stone and Lynne Trussell. For Ping Panthers Marc Burman won two.

Another Maximum points win saw Dynamos lose 8-2 to White Lines. An excellent treble for Sally Hughes plus the doubles win with team mate Stuart Brooks over Dynamos Richard Cosens and Dennis Hayden. This plus two each from her team mates Stuart Brooks and Graham Beaney. Star for Dynamos was two wins from Dennis Hayden. It was a tough mach for both teams with nine of the ten games going to four and five sets.

The final premier match was a 10-0 win with trebles all round for Game Changers Fawzi Yousif, Jim Skinner and Rayar Jean Angelus over bottom of the table Dark Horses.

 

Division One

Thunderbolts stay top of this division with an 8-2 win over Mavericks with most games going to four and five sets. Thunderbolts Jeff Triggs with the only treble, David Metcalfe and Jim Griffin both with two wins. The Doubles went to Thunderbolts Jim Griffin and Jeff Briggs over John Bridger and Darius Mayhew in the fifth. John Bridger was the Mavericks winner of the two singles.

Spin Masters keep leaders in their sight with a 7-3 win over Magiks. Another fine treble from junior Riccardo Bagaini with two from Claudio Bagaini and one from David Polhill with Riccardo teaming up with his father Claudio to win the doubles. Magiks who are finding the going tough in this division saw two wins for Kevin Deacon and one from Mel Sims.

X Men defeated One Hit Wonders 6-4 with Angus Ogg winning three and Peter Dunsby plus Peter Caddy one each. Angus Ogg and Peter Caddy won the doubles over Alanna Blain and Frank Hanley. For One Hits Frank Hanley and Robert Hoare won two each.

In One of the closest games of the match night Burning Rubber came away 6-4 winners over Happy Days, with no less than five, five setters and three four setters . Burning Rubbers Steve Lee the star with three wins assisted by Gavin Pitts and Blake Davies one each with the same pair defeating Happy Days Robert Watson and Samantha Stoner in the doubles. For Happy Days it was two for Robert Watson plus two for Samantha Stoner.

 

Division Two

Leaders Pingwins continue to march towards Division One with a 9-1 win over New Avengers. Trebles for Paul Lewis and Oliver Cattermole with two for Rupert Browning. Rupert and Paul went on to win the doubles. The win for New Avengers came from Prevesh Ramnath over Rupert Browning.

The junior girls of Swifts had their first maximum points win in defeating a strong Blade Runners team 8-2. It was trebles for Claudia Hough (recent winner of the West Sussex Schools U19 girls) also a treble for Emily Dunsby plus one for the leagues youngest junior Chloe Robinson with Claudia and Emily teaming up to win the doubles. For Blade Runners it was one each for Annick Lieutaud and Keith Johnson.

Mad Batters move into third place with a 6-4 win over second placed Dangermen. A treble for Lyle Cyster two from Josh Cole with Lyle and Josh winning the doubles.

A word said about the leagues most enthusiastic and improved player eleven year old Arthur Sharland who is proving a challenge to all the senior players in this division. For Dangermen it was two for Tony Pells plus one each for Colin Cooper and Ron Bailham.
