Table Tennis Report number 19 

Premier Division

 

As the season draws to a close the leaders Hang Em High are perhaps a little nervous. This week they lost to Ping Panthers who are in fourth place?

For Ping Panthers Marc Burman, the league’s singles champion, won three singles including a young contender for his title John Strang. Sam Clarke won two and Lynne Trussell completed the 6-4 win by also defeating John Strang. For Hang Em High Andrew Sharland won two John Strang one with Andrew Sharland and Graham Carter winning the doubles.

Assassins move back to third spot defeating Dynamos 7-3. It was another treble for Keigo Burnham and David Champneys with Father and Son John and Keigo Burnham defeating Dynamos Richard Cosens and Dennis Hayden in the doubles. Dynamos Richard Cosens, Dennis Hayden and Matthew Caddy won one each.

 

St Andrews keep the number two spot with a 8-2 win over Game Changers. Trebles for Brendon Bennett and Michael Robinson with one from Stuart Vincent Brendon and Michael also won the doubles. For Game Changers Jim Skinner and Rayar Jean Angelus won one each.

 

Division One 

Lindfield Thunderbolts pushing for premiership play next season defeated Burning Rubber 9-1. Trebles for Jim Griffin and Jeff Triggs with David Metcalfe winning two. Jeff and Jim went on to take the doubles. For Burning Rubber the lone win came from the bat of Gavin Pitts.

Spin Masters in second place could only draw five all with Happy Days. For Spin Masters junior Riccardo Bagaini was the only player with a treble with his father Claudio winning two. For Happy Days Robert Watson won two and Cathy Seiderer and Phil Harvey won apiece. The doubles went to Cathy Seiderer and Robert Watson over the junior pair Riccardo Bagaini and Tommy Worley. 

Five all result was also the score line between Mavericks and X Men. Two for Tom Christophersen and one each for Peter Dunsby and Peter Caddy with both Peters winning the doubles for the draw. For Mavericks two for Nikita Kalyazin and Darius Mayhew with one for Ian Sanders.

One Hit Wonders defeated Magiks 8-2.  A treble apiece for Robert Hoare and Frank Hanley with Alanna Blain winning two. For Magiks a singles win for Mel Sims plus the doubles with Kevin Deacon.

 

Division Two

 

Leaders Pingwins another maximum points win. This time over Swifts. Result 10-0.

Maximum points also for Dangermen over New Avengers.

Treble for Peter Vincent with two each for Ron Bailham and Colin Cooper with Colin Cooper and Peter Vincent winning the doubles. New Avengers Robert Goff won the two games for his team.

Another Maximum point win for Blade Runners over Smashing Pumpkins. Three each for Annick Lieutaud and Keith Johnson who also won the doubles. Third Player junior Holly Cole did well with one win. For Smashing Pumpkins Oliver Howard and Matt Stevens win one apiece.

This coming Sunday sees the Haywards Heath Closed Table Tennis Championships at Warden Park. Remember the clocks go FORWARD ONE HOUR.
