Match Report Week 5 - 14th November 2018

Premier Division  

Hang Em High defeat Ping Panthers to go top of the premier thanks to a fantastic treble for junior John Strang. Three for John Strang, two for Michael Bridger, one for Graham Carter with Michael and Graham defeating Pings Lynne Trussell and Tomas Pomej in the doubles for a 7-3 win. For Ping Panthers two for Alan Stone and one for Graham Carter. 

With Assassins postponing their match they drop into third place, with St Andrews jumping into forth place following a maximum 8-2 win over Game Changers. For St Andrews it was three for Michael Robinson and two apiece for Terry Dean and Matthew Caddy. Terry Dean and Michael Robinson combined to defeat Fawzi Yousif and Costas Kyriacou in the doubles. Fawzi Yousif won the two for Game Changers. 

Dark Horses went down 10-0 to White Lines. It was trebles all round for Sally Hughes, Stuart Brooks and Joe Comper with Sally and Joe winning the doubles. For Dark Horses Viv Cole, Ross Knowson and Steve Ive just up from Div One competed well with five out of ten matches going to four and five sets. 

Top three teams in the premier are
Hang Em High, Ping Panthers and Assassins.
Top three in Division One are
Lindfield Thunderbolts, Spin Masters, Mavericks
Top three in Division Two
Pingwins, Mad Batters, Dangermen.

 

Division One 

Lindfield Thunderbolts stay top with a 10-0 win over a two man team of Burning Rubbers.
Two apiece plus a walkover for David Metcalfe, Jeff Triggs and Jim Griffin with the doubles going to Jim Griffin and Jeff Briggs.

A tough match saw Spin Masters coming away 8-2 winners over Happy Days, again over half the matches went to four and five sets. Junior Riccardo Bagaini was the only player with a treble and team mates Paul Brinkhurst and Claudio Bagaini bagged two apiece. Riccardo and Paul paired up to win the doubles to take maximum points. Bob Watson was the only winner for Happy Days. 

One Hit Wonders also with maximum points defeated Magiks 8-2. It was three for Bob Hoare and Frank Hanley with Alanna Blain winning the all important one as Bob and Frank won the doubles for One Hit Wonders first Maximum points win. For Magiks a win each for Mel Sims and Kevin Deacon. 

Mavericks and X Men battled out for a five all draw in a very close match. Two wins for Mavericks John Bridger and Darius Mayhew with one from Jim Allum for their five, For X Men a treble for Angus Ogg, one win for Peter Caddy then a win in the doubles for Angus Ogg and Peter Caddy in the doubles  for their five.

 

Division Two

Pingwins team of David Polhill, Rupert Browning and Paul Lewis continue to dominate this division. This week they defeated the all girls junior team of Claudia Hough, Emily Dunsby and Chloe Robinson with trebles all round plus the doubles. For Swifts Claudia Hough was unlucky going down in the fifth to Rupert Browning and Emily Dunsby went down in four to David Polhill. 

Blade Runners had a good 7-3 win over Smashing Pumpkins. A treble each for Annick Lieutaud and Keith Johnson with Annick and Keith winning the doubles. For Smashing Pumpkins a win apiece for Oliver Howard, Matt Stevens and Simon Howard. 

Dangermen defeated New Avengers 8-2 with three for Peter Vincent, plus two each for Colin Cooper and Ron Bailham. Peter Vincent and Colin Cooper paired to win the doubles and with it maximum points.
Guest player for New Avengers Johnny Griffiths defeated Colin Cooper and Rom Bailham for the two wins.
