Table Tennis Report 10th February
Premier Division
With Bullets and Game changers unable to field a team the match will be re-arranged within twenty one days.
This means only two match reports for the premier division this week.
These results leave the top two teams Hang Em High and Assassins both on 35 points with team number three Ping Panthers only four points behind.
Leaders on games different are Hand Em High who were held to a five all draw by third placed Ping Panthers.
For Hang Em High it was a match saving treble for Michael Bridger plus two for Andrew Sharland, third player John Burnham was the unlucky third player in losing in the fifth set in two games and in the forth set on his third game.
In the match deciding doubles Michael Bridger and Andrew Sharland went down 13-11 in the forth set to Ping Panthers Lynne Trussell and Sam Clark.
For Pingwins Sam Clark with two wins, Lynne Trussell and John Strang with one apiece then Lynne and Sam winning the very important doubles.
For Assassins who were without Charlie Hough, team mates Keigo Burnham and Ben Worley were well up to the challenge against a determined Dynamos team with both Keigo and Ben with trebles and also the doubles win over Dennis Hayden and Mathew Caddy. Assassin’s third player Robert Hoare went to four sets in two of his matches.
For Dynamos it was a win apiece for Matthew Caddy, Richard Cosens and Dennis Hayden. The score line does not do justice to a very close match.
Division One
Leaders St Andrews did well to come away with three points against the team who are joint third in this division. For Saints it was three apiece for Terry Dean and Stuart Vincent with Terry and Stuart also winning the doubles.
For the opposition Dark Horses it was one each for Steven Ive, Ross Knowlson and Ben Freeman.
Following a maximum points 8-2 win in defeating Spin Masters Bashers move into fifth place.
It was trebles for John Bridger and Peter Dunsby with Tim Grant winning one.
In the doubles John Bridger and Peter Dunsby defeated Spin Masters Tommy Worley and Riccardo Bagaini 11-9 in the fifth set to earn maximum points.
For Spin Masters Claudio and Riccardo Bagaini won one each.
A 7-3 for Lindfield Thunderbolts was the result of their match with Paddlers. Three wins for Andy Steel, two wins for Jim Griffin and one for Vincent L’Estrange with the doubles going to Andy Steel and Jim Griffin..
For Paddlers two wins for Peter Caddy and one win for Samantha Stoner.
In this division St Andrews (heading for the premier) lead with 37 points in second place are X Men with 28 points with Dark Horses on 26 points.
Division Two
Another maximum points win for leaders Magiks this time over the all junior girls team Swifts.
For Magiks team of Mel Sims. Tony Turk and Alistair Blue it was trebles all round while Swifts girls are learning fast and as Magiks captain Mel Sims said it was only our experience that gave us the win.
In spot number two Burning Rubber also with maximum points continue to win. This week they defeated Cutting Edge 8-2.
Trebles for Blake Davies and Steve Lee with one from Gavin Pitts.
For Cutting Edge it was one for guest player Alanna Blain who defeated Gavin Pitts and went to five sets against Steve Lee and also one for David Polhill who also defeated Gavin Pitts and also went to five with Steve Lee.
Owing to the late finish the doubles were conceded by Cutting Edge.
Pingwins came through 10-0 against Smashing Pumpkins with trebles all round for Adam Wiseman, Rob Welsh and Paul Lewis with Paul and Rob also winning the doubles.
The losing team Cutting Edge, Prevesh Ramnath, Peter Vincent and Oliver Howard improve each time they play.
Dangermen also with a maximum points win this week against Blade Runners made it an usual week for winners as the first four teams in division two won with maximum points.
Danger men’s Colin Cooper and Tony Pells with trebles and Ron Bailham with two with Ron and Colin also winning the doubles.
Chris Slade for Blade Runners avoided the whitewash by defeating Ron Bailham.
