Table Tennis New Season Report 4

Premier Division

With three teams, Ping Panthers, Hang Em High and Assassins within a point of each other and most other teams also in contention it will be a much tougher premier division this season.

This week Ping Panthers maintained a one point lead at the top defeating Dark Horses 9-1, It was trebles for Tomas Pomej and Marc Burman with two for Lynn Trussell. Lynn and Tomas took the doubles over Viv Cole and Ross Knowlson. For Dark Horses Viv Cole player well to defeat Lynn Trussell in straight sets…

Sadly for Ping Panthers Popular player Tomas Pomej will be leaving England for a new life in the Czech Republic.

Hang Em High with Michael Bridger, Graham Carter and Andrew Sharland all with trebles defeated a strong Dynamos team 9-1 with Dynamos Richard Cosens and Dennis Hayden winning the doubles. For Dynamos Dennis Hayden, Matthew Caddy and Richard Caddy it was It little disappointing as seven out of nine singles went to four and five sets.

Assassin’s only two points behind the leading team also came away with maximum points win over Game Changers, Trebles for Ben Worley and Keigo Burnham with two for David Champneys, with Ben and Keigo winning the doubles. For the Game Changers team of Mike Day, Graham Carter and Fawzi Yousif only Fawzi was a winner.

Had White Lines team turned out three players the result may have been different but sadly they went down 7-3 to St Andrews. For St Andrews two plus a walkover for Michael Robinson, One plus a walkover for Terry Dean and a walkover for Charlie Usher with Terry and Charlie winning the doubles.

For White Lines two singles for Sally Hughes and one for Stuart Brooks.

 

Division One

Lindfield Thunderbolts move into the number one spot following a 7-3 win over One Hit Wonders. It was three for Jim Griffin, two for Jeff Triggs and one for David Metcalfe. In the doubles Jim Griffin and Jeff Briggs defeated Alanna Blain and Robert Hoare 12-10 in the fifth. For One Hits, it was two for Robert Hoare and One for Frank Hanley.

Magiks defeated Mavericks 6-4 and go level pegging with them for the number two spot. For Magiks it was two apiece for Mel Sims and Alistair Blue with one from Tony Turk with Mel and Tony taking the doubles in the fifth set. For Mavericks, John Bridger with the only treble and Jim Allum one.

A 7-3 win also for X Men over Happy Days!  For X Men, Angus Ogg a treble, Peter Dunsby two and Peter Caddy one. Angus Ogg and Peter Caddy won the doubles. For Happy Days. Two wins for Bob Watson and one win for Cathy Seiderer.

 

Division Two. 

An excellent 7-3 win for Pingwins over Dangermen takes them four points clear in this division. Three wins for David Polhill plus two each for Rupert Browning and Paul Lewis. For Dangermen Tony Pells was the star in winning two plus the doubles with Peter Vincent.

Mad Batters were 6-4 victors over Blade Runners. A treble for Lyle Cyster plus one each from juniors Arthur Sharland and Josh Cole. Arthur and Josh went on to win the doubles.

New Avengers came away 6-4 winners over Smashing Pumpkins. A treble for Prevesh Ramnath and two from Robert Goff with Prevesh and Robert winning the doubles to give New Avengers their win. For Smashing Pumpkins, two for Oliver Howard and one each for Martin Gallagher and Matt Stevens,
