There was some critical action in Division Two of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League as the top two crossed swords, with Tackleway C beating Hastings Academy E 6-4.  Mike Charter was unbeaten and Adrian Goodrum won two for Tackleway, as did Andy Furnival for the Academics. The match turned at 3-3 with Charter and Goodrum both winning in five games against Furnival and Terry Dean respectively.

It was a busy week for Academy E who won a rearranged match with Hollington B 9-1 with Dean and Chelsea Britt winning three and Graham Deeprose two.

Third placed Bexhill G were held 5-5 by Tackleway D when John Bradbury and Harry French (Bexhill) and Alan Blackman (Tackleway) all won twice.

Academy E and Tackleway C are joint top on 43 points, with Bexhill G on 40.

 Monarchs A are upwardly mobile and they climbed above Nalgo A into fifth with a 6-4 win. Bob Lowe notched another maximum for Monarchs, with Alison Jordan winning two as did Paul Hyland for Nalgo, losing a tight opener against Lowe.

 

In Division One, the top two both won 8-2, with leaders Academy A retaining their one point lead with a win over Bexhill C where Paul Barry won three and Fraser Kent and Ryan Heselden two each. Graham Gillett won two for Bexhill who sniffed a point when Alan McCleave led 2-0 against Kent, only for the youngster to finish strongly.

Bexhill A beat Hollington A 8-2 with a Lewis Mayhew maximum and two for Martin Kapusta and Ryan Warner. Kevin Barry had an excellent straight games win over Kapusta for the losers.

Academy B drop to fourth after a 6-4 win at Tackleway B where they had three wins from Dave Butler and two from James Winchester. John Dyson had two good wins for Tackleway and he came from 1-2 down to beat Winchester with 14-12 wins in both the fourth and fifth games.

 

Monarchs B still lead Division Three after an 8-2 defeat of Tackleway H in which Peter Harding and Andrew Edwards were unbeaten. Harding’s 3-1 win over Andy Holmes included a 23-21 winning scoreline in the second game!
