Hastings Academy A and Bexhill A have identical records at the top of Division One of  the Hastings & District Table Tennis League after three matches.

Champions Academy A dropped a point in beating Bexhill C 7-3 when they had Nathan Darby unbeaten and Fraser Kent and Ryan Heselden won two each. Graham Gillett won twice for Bexhill, who have had a difficult start, and only lost out to Darby at 11-13 in the decider.

Hollington A had won their two openers but found Bexhill A a step too far, going down 2-8 to a maximum from Lewis Mayhew and two apiece for Ryan Warner and Martin Kellaway for Bexhill.

Hastings Academy F had their third loss as they were beaten 7-3 at Bexhill D for whom Graham Primett was unbeaten and Pete Robinson and Kevin McEwan won two. Supersub Jamie Martin won twice for the Academics.

 

In Division Two, Bexhill E are early leaders and maximums for Pam Winter and Paul Welford and two from Cameron Jones saw them home 8-2 against Hollington B.

Form team in this division are Nalgo A and they won 6-4 at Monarchs A. Paul Hyland was unbeaten and Mike Courtnage won two, as did Bob Lowe for Monarchs.

Academy E bounced back from last week’s setback to beat Tackleway C 6-4 with Andy Furnival winning three and Terry Dean two while Adrian Goodrum won two for Tackleway.

Tackleway D and Bexhill G drew 5-5 with Alan Blackman and Keith Lindsay (Tackleway) and John Bradbury and Tina Beaney (Bexhill) all winning two.

 

There were some tight matches in Division Three, none more so than the 5-5 draw between Hollington C and Bexhillians I.  George Reidy’s maximum kept Bexhill in the match while Keith Young and Mick Oakman both won two for Hollington.

The most competitive match in any Division saw Bexhill H go 3-0 down to Tackleway F, all won in five games by the narrowest margins. Bexhill fought back but went down 6-4 with two wins each for the Tackleway trio of Stephen Milton, Ali Rastgoye and Brian Leggett and for Bexhill’s Dom Goodson.
