With Hollington A out of action in the Hastings & District Table Tennis League Division Two, their two nearest rivals improved their standing with big wins.

Saints B beat Tackleway D 9-1 with Ron Davenport and Jamie Martin unbeaten and two wins from Andy Syrett. At 7-0 up, Saints took their eye off the ball with Owen Hatter running away with the fifth against Syrett and Ron Davenport edging past Alan Blackman, also in five games.

Saints now have a one point lead over Hollington, who have a game in hand.

Third placed Tackleway E beat Tigers A 8-2 with Danny Rickaby unbeaten. Adrian Goodrum and Kevin Rowe both won two, as did Tigers’ Dave Mitchell.

An injury to Monarchs A’s Alison Jordan in her first game effectively ended the chances of her team as they went down 4-6 to Tackleway E. Bob Lowe gained a maximum for Monarchs.

Hollington C and Bexhill I enjoyed a competitive match in Division Three with Bexhill coming out on top, 6-4. Jim Leppard and Dom Goodson won two for Bexhill as did Keith Young for Hollington.

From 2-3 down, Tackleway F reeled off the last five to beat Monarchs B 7-3 with Peter Saunders unbeaten and Robin Mitchell winning twice. Dave Turnbull won two for Monarchs..

Leaders Saints C have not dropped a point this season and they continued on their merry way with a 10-0 win over Tackleway G. All in straight games for Dave Watters, Andy Murphy and Danny Gurden.

Tigers B had maximums from Andy Holmes and Bryan Tichband and two from Chris Floyd in a 9-1 win at Nalgo B.

In a Watts Cup Quarter Final, Hollington Academy A beat Hollington Academy C 5-2 with Bashar Obaid and Ryan Heselden unbeaten. The result of the match, and possibly the season, was thirteen-year-old Arthur Bracken, of the C team, beating Nathan Darby (A team). Darby has yet to lose in the league this season and his side were 4-0 up so a little focus may have been lacking, but a fine win nonetheless.
