Hastings Academy C and Bexhill C have both underachieved in Division One of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League and remain in mid-table after a 5-5 draw. Academy’s Rose Rainton has struggled with injury this season but she had a fine maximum, including coming from 0-2 down to beat Graham Gillett.  Gillett and Andy Chapman both won two for Bexhill.

Bexhill B gained their first win over Tackleway A for six years as unbeaten John Ellis led them to a 6-4 result. Andy Summers won two for Bexhill as did Michael Funnell for Tackleway.

Another talented youngster made a Hastings League debut when thirteen year-old Matthew Davies won twice for Academy B in their 9-1 win over Bexhill D in which Dave Butler and James Winchester were unbeaten.

 

Little change in Division Two with the top four all winning but Monarchs A lie fifth after beating Tackleway D 6-4.  Bob Lowe won three and Alison Jordan two for Monarchs while two from Keith Lindsay kept Tackleway in the game.

Third placed Nalgo A dropped a point as they beat Hollington B 7-3 with a Paul Hyland maximum and two from Mike Courtnage. Rob Clemence won two for the losers and earned a point with a straight games defeat of Courtnage at the end of the match.

Maximums from Terry Dean and Andy Furnival ensured Academy E retained their one point advantage at the top after an 8-2 defeat of Bexhill E.

 

In Division Three, Hollington E are new leaders after a 10-0 defeat of under-strength Nalgo B in which Yasar Akar, Adam Akar and Tristan Hyland were unbeaten.

Phil Bailey notched his third consecutive maximum to help Willett & Phillips to a 5-5 draw with Tackleway H who had two wins each for Phil Talbot and Andy Holmes.

Bexhill H are a point off the top after winning  9-1 at Tackleway G with three wins from Dom Goodson and Baz Goodson and two from Cheng Liu.

In an epic encounter, Hollington C drew 5-5 with Tackleway F after five sets went the distance. Mick Oakman won three and Keith Young two for Hollington while Peter Saunders won twice for Tackleway.
