With the new season in the Hastings & District Table Tennis League almost upon us,

Division 2 looks its strongest for years with most teams having strengthened their squads.

Saints B, unexpectedly demoted from the top Division, have a squad containing Ron Davenport and Jamie Martin and, if these two turn out regularly, Saints will be favourites.

Also favoured are Hollington A, who have signed Kevin Barry from Hollington Academy to join Shaun Godfrey and Steph Sargeant. With Neil Stapley on the bench, Hollington present a formidable challenge.

Tigers A led the Division for most of last season and the first objective for Chris Woods, Dave Mitchell and Roger Smith will be to put their disappointing end to the season out of their heads..

Tackleway have three teams in this Division and the exact format of their teams is still to be finalised. It is expected that Tackleway C will link Adrian Goodrum, Danny Rickaby and Kevin Rowe, all of whom played 1st Division last season, with former Hollington player Aaron Pain.  Tackleway D should include Owen Hatter and Alan Blackman.

Paul Hyland’s Nalgo A have signed Malcolm Hilton to replace the retiring Mick Lane, while Bob Lowe will probably be the top player in the division  after joining Monarchs from Bexhill A.

Bexhill G is the former D team with Nick Coleman replacing Trevor Towner; Bexhill F are unchanged while Dan Starnes will strengthen Bexhill H.

Of the newly promoted teams, Ryan Demeza will join Rob Clemence and Neil Pankhurst in Hollington B while Mike Charter and Zachary Allen have joined Tackleway E.

Division 3, as usual, is difficult to call, with several experienced 2nd Division players dropping down. Keith Lindsay will join grandson Thomas Porter in Tackleway G.

Dave Watters moves from Hollington Academy to Saints B, who are otherwise unchanged.

Tristan Hyland moves from Bexhill to the young Hollington E side while Mick Oakman steps down from Division 2 with Hollington C and Jo Clarke moves from Saints to Hollington D.

Caz Hall and Jason Ward will make their Hastings League debuts for Bexhill I.
