Second placed Awesome Blaze (Sacha Ward and Leo Marquesen) had an excellent 3-2 win over league leaders Unbelievable Tekkers (Tristan Hyland and Ciaran Potter) in the Hastings & District Junior Table Tennis League Division One. The top players in the league clashed first with Ward, who was unbeaten on the night, beating Hyland in only his second defeat of the season. The Blaze took a winning 3-0 lead before Tekkers finished strongly with two wins.

Ward was again unbeaten as Awesome Blaze followed up with a tense win over Lucky Edges. Although the final score was 4-1, all the singles went the distance, with Blaze once again taking a 3-0 lead before Henry Hemmett picked up a consolation win over Marquesen.

Lucky Edges also lost 4-1 to Unbelievable Tekkers, when Hyland picked up a maximum,  before the Edges beat TT Demons 5-0 with Hemmett and Simona Dyulgerova winning two each.

Unbelievable Tekkers still lead the table with two games to play. Awesome Blaze trail by two points and have a game in hand, but Tekkers’ sets average may be enough to claim the title.

In Division Two, Balls of Steel (Josh Frazer and Timothy Allen) won twice to retain the lead, including a 5-0 defeat of Supersidespinners. Frazer is still unbeaten in the Division and has picked up good wins in Division One.

The Smashers (Ryan Humphreys and Meg White) also had a 5-0 win against Backspinners to stay only two points adrift with three each to play.

Ping Pong Wizards eased their way off bottom spot with two good wins, beating Backspinners 3-2 and Supersidespinners 4-1. In each match, James Barry won twice and Molly Rickaby once.
