In Division Two of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League, the leading pair both enjoyed comfortable wins to take advantage of a cluster of draws amongst the chasing pack.

Leaders Tigers A won 9-1 at Hollington B where Chris Woods and Roger Smith were unbeaten and Dave Mitchell won twice. Ryan Demeza picked up the consolation win for the Hollington youngsters.

Bexhill E won by the same margin at Monarchs, with maximums for Tina Beaney and Pam Winter and two from Paul Welford. Bexhill’s 3-0 lead could easily have been

3-0 in Monarchs favour, but they took control at that point apart from Alison Jordan’s win over Welford.

Tackleway D came from 3-5 down to draw 5-5 with Bexhill D with two wins each for Owen Hatter and Alan Blackman. Brian Beaney had an excellent maximum for Bexhill.

Another unbeaten performance came from Hollington A’s Shaun Godfrey as his side drew 5-5 at NALGO A, for whom Paul Hyland and Mike Courtnage both won two.

The third draw in this Division came when Tackleway E came back from 3-5 down at Bexhill F. Dave Wilson won three and Peter Wilson two for Tackleway while Dave Chumbley won twice for Bexhill.

A maximum from Kevin Barry and two wins from Dave Watters saw Hollington Academy D home 6-4 at Bexhill H.

 

In Division Three, Tackleway F dropped a point in a 7-3 win over Hollington D when Kevin Eastman was unbeaten and Doug Bick won twice, as did Yasar Akar for Hollington.

Leaders Bexhill I won more comfortably with a 10-0 defeat of NALGO B when Chris Hack, Malcolm Hilton and Tristan Hyland did not drop a set.

Monarchs B and Willett & Phillips drew 5-5 with Peter Harding winning three for Monarchs and Phil Bailey and Sue Clarke two each for W&P. Clarke secured the draw with win over Dave Turnbull at 12-10 in the fifth.

Paulette Clarke’s maximum and two for Andy Murphy secured a 6-4 win for Saints C over Tigers B who had two wins from Bryan Tichband.Maximums from Zac Allen and Keith Young saw Tackleway G home 7-3 against Hollington C.
