In Division One of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League Tackleway A won the derby encounter with Tackleway C 7-3 with Sue Pingram unbeaten and two wins for James Gorridge, while Roger Pingram won two for the losers. The match was finely balanced at 4-3 before the A side took the last three sets, including a domestic clash between the Pingrams, won by Sue at 11-9 in the decider, to clinch the win.

Graham Gillett’s maximum for Bexhill C could not save them from a 6-4 defeat to Hollington Academy C, for whom Nick Standen and Kevin Barry won two apiece.

Saints A won 6-4 at Hollington Academy B when Dave Butler won three and James Winchester two. Tony Catt won two for Academy, coming from 2-1 down to beat Winchester but was unable to repeat the feat against Butler, losing in five games.

Maximums from Ron Davenport and Gary Pells and two from John Wond saw Saints B to a  9-1 win over Bexhill G.

 

In Division Two, Tackleway E suffered their first defeat when they went down 7-3 at Bexhill D. David Chumbley was unbeaten and Trevor Towner and Brian Beaney won two each for Bexhill, while Dave Wilson won twice for Tackleway.

Hollington B had their first win, beating Bexhill H 6-4 with three wins for Rob Clemence  and two for Kieran Gibbs. Alan Chumbley picked up two for Bexhill.

Leaders Tigers A beat Hollington A 6-4, despite another maximum for Hollington’s Shaun Godfrey. Chris Woods, Dave Mitchell and Roger Smith won two each for Tigers but Mitchell had to come from 2-0 down to pip Steph Sargent.

A maximum from Paul Hyland put NALGO A 5-3 against second-place Tackleway D who came back to draw with two wins for Owen Hatter and Alan Blackman.

 

Tackleway F had their sixth straight win in Division Three, beating Tackleway G 7-3 with two wins each from Steve Milton, Kevin Eastman and Doug Bick. Zac Allen was unbeaten again for the G team.

Maximums from Rob Clemence and Neil Pankhurst saw Hollington E to an 8-2 win over Monarchs B.
