The end of the year in the Hastings & District Junior Table Tennis League sees Bangers and Smash and Unbelievable Tekkers unbeaten in Division One with the former having the edge, having played one game more.

Zachary Allen has been outstanding for Bangers and Smash, winning all his sets in straight games. The Bangers were taken the distance in their opening game against TT Lads before winning 3-2 after a tight doubles win for Allen and Charlie Kenward. There was a similar pattern in the 3-2 win over TT Demons, with Allen again unbeaten, but this time the doubles win was comprehensive.

Unbelievable Tekkers (Jack Bounsall and Joe Ackerly) have won all their games 3-2, which included a win over the unfortunate TT Lads, who again lost out after a close doubles. The win over Balls of Fury was even closer at 14-12 in the doubles decider after Tristan Hyland had won twice for BOF.

Lucky Edges have games in hand and have lost only once, thanks mainly to the unbeaten Jonah Davies. Their only defeat came at the hands of TT Demons who had Charlie Morgan and Reece Lincoln winning one apiece before taking the crucial doubles.

In another close encounter, Awesome Blaze edged out Fiery Balls with a maximum from Hanza Husain, who then combined with Sacha Ward to take the doubles 11-9 in the decider.

Division Two leaders are the appropriately named Tabletoppers who have won all five of their matches with the loss of only two sets. Holli and Georgia Ferguson have both lost only once for Tabletoppers, with these defeats coming at the hands of Simona Dyulgerova (The Smashers) before the sisters took the doubles to clinch a 3-2 win.

In their last game before Christmas, Tabletoppers dismissed nearest rivals Double Trouble (Kai and Ciaran Potter) 5-0, which was Double Trouble’s only defeat to date.

Double Trouble had previously scraped past The Smashers 3-2, despite Sacha Ward’s maximum for the losers, with both Potters beating Dyulgerova by the narrowest of margins.

Charlie Keen won twice as Supersidespinners beat Backspinners 4-1.
