Nathan Darby made an unexpected return for Hollington A in the 5-5 draw with Saints A in Division One of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League. Paul Barry had a superb maximum for Hollington, which included Ritchie Venner’s first Hastings League defeat for 4 years. Venner won 2, as did James Winchester for Saints.
At the foot of the table, bottom team Saints B picked up their first point of the season when losing 7-3 to Saints C. Ron Davenport and John Wond were unbeaten for the C team.
Tackleway B also picked up a point in the 7-3 defeat by Bexhill B. Andy Summers won 3 and John Ellis 2 for Bexhill, while Adrian Goodrum picked up 2 for Tackleway.
Match of the week in Division 2 saw Bexhill D notch up an excellent win over leaders Tackleway C 7-3, with Ryan Warner unbeaten and Konrad Pieterse and Paul Welford both winning 2.
In the Tabernacle Hall derby, NALGO A beat Monarchs 7-3 with another Paul Hyland maximum and 2 wins for Mike Courtnage while Peter Harding won 2 for Monarchs.
In Division 3, Hollington F kept in touch with the leaders with a 6-4 win at Bexhill G
with 3 wins from Ken Philcox and 2 from Pete Shoesmith. Ricky Knight won 2 for Bexhill.
Willett & Phillips beat Tigers C after Phil Bailey’s maximum and 2 wins from Sue Clarke had put an end to Michael Foster’s unbeaten run. Chris Floyd led Tigers’ resistance with 2 wins.
