The second round of matches in the Hastings & District Table Tennis League Division One saw two title contenders both drop a point. Saints A scraped through 6-4 against Hollington B thanks to Dave Butler’s maximum and 2 wins from James Winchester. Jamie Martin won 2 for Hollington, who narrowly lost both matches which went the distance.

Hollington A beat Saints C 7-3 with 3 wins for Paul Barry and 2 from Abdle Hamede Obeyed.  Ron Davenport took 2 for Saints who clinched the consolation point with a fine 5-set win for John Wond over Andy Furnival.

Hollington C had their first win with a 7-3 defeat of Tackleway B in which Scott Bills was unbeaten and Darren Chawner won 2.  Martin Richards led the resistance for Tackleway with 2 wins, narrowly losing to Bills.

In Division 2, Monarchs have already improved on last season’s points haul after a 5-5 draw with Tackleway E in which Andrew Edwards and Dave Turnbull won 2 each.

Danny Kildea’s 3 wins kept Tackleway in the match.

Kevin McEwan, on his debut for Tackleway F, had a crucial maximum in the 7-3 win at Hollington . Keith Lindsay (Tackleway) and Sue Adamson (Hollington) both won 2 games

Tigers C were indebted to Michael Foster’s unbeaten performance in a 5-5 draw with Hollington F in Division 3. Ken Philcox and Pete Shoesmith both won 2 for Hollington.

Saints E beat Hollington G 9-1 with Derek Brown and Pete Lambert unbeaten and Paul Davis winning 2.
