Hollington A have made an impressive start in the Hastings & District Table Tennis League Division One and they remain unbeaten after dismissing Tigers A 8-2, despite the absence of Paul Barry. Hollington had Stacey Furnival and Andy Furnival unbeaten, plus 2 wins from Bashar Obeyed.

Bexhill A are also unbeaten, but dropped a point in beating Hollington C 7-3. Lewis Mayhew, Martin Kellaway and Bob Lowe won 2 apiece for Hollington, while Darren Chawner picked up 2 good wins for Hollington and Scott Bills claimed the prized scalp of Mayhew.

Bexhill C beat Saints C 7-3 with maximums from Graham Gillett and Pete Robinson, who also combined to take the doubles.

 

Tackleway F and NALGO A had a hard-fought 5-5 draw in Division 2 featuring a clash between two unbeaten players, in which Tackleway’s Kevin McEwan beat NALGO’s Paul Hyland in 5 sets. McEwan went on to claim the only maximum of the match, despite being taken even closer by Mike Courtnage, who won 2 games, as did Hyland.

Tackleway E inflicted Bexhill E’s second successive 6-4 defeat, with 2 wins each from Danny Kildea and Peter Wilson. John Bradbury won 2 for the losers, who lost all 3 games which went the distance.

 

In Division 3, Neil Pankhurst’s maximum helped Saints F to a 5-5 draw with Willett & Phillips, for whom Sue Clarke and Ken McEwan won two each. Clarke and McEwan both lost 3-2 to Pankhurst, Clarke conceding a 2-0 lead in the process.
