Chair’s Remarks

Firstly, may I on behalf of the HTTA committee, welcome you back to table tennis. We all know how challenging the past 18 months have been and it’s great to be organising and playing table tennis again, a return to a sense of normality!

We have obviously seen a reduction in players but we are alive and kicking with 31 teams. Sadly, some Yorkshire Leagues have actually folded due to lack of player participation and so a huge thank you to each and every player wishing to play in the Harrogate Table Tennis Association 2021-22 season.

Hopefully everyone will enjoy the coming season and I’m sure it will be competitive across the various divisions.

Good luck to everyone, keep safe and enjoy the season.

Fixtures 2021-22

This year we have 4 divisions, with Division 1 with 7 teams and the other divisions with 8 teams.

Division 1 will consist of 24 games per team – each team playing each other 4 times.

Divisions 2-4 will consist of 21 games per team – each team playing each other 3 times.

Charity Cup 2019-20

Given the history and tradition, it has been agreed to complete the Charity Cup from 2019-20. The competition has reached the quarter final stage and details are on the website including handicaps and players eligible to play in the later stages, and for those team captains still involved, remember players can play for any team/club.

Charity Cup 2021-22

The fixtures for this year’s competition will be announced shortly. We have 31 teams and so there will be two rounds before the quarter final stages with one team receiving a bye in the first round.

Annual Tournament

Richard Whiteley is once again organising the Tournament and details will be made available on the website in due course.

Best Pairs and Divisional Singles

This year’s events may be played at the Annual Tournament or held as a separate event depending on entries. Further information will be provided over the season.

Players We have Lost

I have to pass on the sad news that over the past 18 months we have lost two stalwarts of HTTA, Ray Lloyd and Colin Deighton. Both contributed greatly to HTTA and many of us have fond memories of playing against them.
