Greetland Social Templars got their season off to a strong start as they defeated Red Press Mercurials 8-1.
After finishing second for the past two seasons, Greetland have set their sights on winning the league for a third time in five seasons.

It wasn't all straight forward, with Halifax Champion Clayton, who is using pimples this season, having to battle hard to defeat Nuno Costa 3-1.
It was even tougher for Alex Shaw, who looked certain to fall to defeat when he fell 2-0 down to Steve Hanson. However, the youngster showed plenty of grit to pull the game level, before claiming the fifth set.
His brother, Matthew, dispatched of Seb Frere 3-0, before Clayton matched the scoreline against Hanson.
Costa also earned an end against Matthew Shaw before falling 3-1, and then Alex secured victory with a straight sets win over Frere.
Matthew Shaw completed his maximum, coming from behind to beat Hanson, before Clayton overcame Frere to secure his treble.
Costa managed to earn a consolation for the Mercurials, defeating Alex Shaw 3-1 to ensure there would be no whitewash.
