Promising youngsters shine at National Cadet League

Three of our Cadet boys played in the National Cadet League in Rotherham today.

This was a team event that saw them take part in three local league style matches. Alex Ackroyd, Ethan Brown and Abraham Sellado all played very well and were a credit to the club. A special mention goes to Abraham, who is just six years old and was playing boys almost ten years his senior!

The opening match was against the well-respected Rotherham Scorpions, however, Alex and Ethan ensured we won 6-3 with three victories each, while Abraham was very close to picking up a victory.

The second match was played against a very strong Pudsey side who just edged us on this occasion. We unfortunately came out with a 5-4 deficit in this match. Alex superbly won all three against tough opposition. Ethan also added one victory while Abraham once again battled really well but the opposition were just too strong.

In the final match of the day, we faced Oakbank and came out with a comprehensive 7-2 victory. Alex and Ethan won all three and Abraham earned his first victory of the day much to the delight of those in attendance.

It turned out to be a very successful day for the cadets team with Alex Ackroyd earning a 100% record with 9/9 wins, Ethan Brown won 7/9 and young Abraham Sellado won 1/9.
