In Division Two the leaders, Cwmbran Panthers, had a narrow 18-15 win over North Gwent Cougars. Despite their defeat the Cougars did provide the player of the match in Greg Price who won all his matches. For the Panthers Howard Gaut, Colin Price and Yuri Cherkasenko all won 2 matches each.
It will be back to normal next week with both Division One and Two matches taking place in the final round before Christmas.

The final match in Division One saw Cwmbran Blues drop to 3rd place despite their 21-13 win over YMCA Preachers. The Blues were indebted to their player of the match David D Lloyd with his 3 wins and Roger Grech with 2 wins. For the Preachers the 'other' David Lloyd picked up 2 wins.
The rearranged Eastern Valley Table Tennis League 2016_17 Finals Night was held at the Cwmbran Stadium on the 3rd Oct. 2017.
Before we could get to the finals there were a couple of semi-final to sort out in the Doubles and Handicapped singles.
The latest tournaments in the Eastern Valley Closed played this week were the Doubles and Handicap Singles. There were 14 pairs entered in the doubles and 28 entries in the Handicap Singles.
The Eastern Valley Closed Junior Tournament was completed this week. There were 8 entries split into 2 groups of 4 with the top 2 in each group progressing to the semi-final.

The Groups, Quarter-finals and Semi-finals of the Veterans tournament were played this week. There were 16 entries split into 4 groups of 4 with the top 2 in each group progressing to the knockout stages. The qualifiers from the group were generally as anticipated.
Round One saw wins for Roger Grech over Mathew Pearce, Mark Farrow over Peter Gordon, Mark Edmunds over Bethany Brewer and a first win of the season over Ray Goulding in straight sets.
Therefore, it will be Lincoln Alford v Wayne Ford to decide the Division Two winner with the match being played on Finals night on 28th March.

In Division One of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League YMCA Preachers extended their lead at the top with a convincing win against Blaenavon Aces 27-4. There were maximum wins for David Lloyd, Claire Flannagan and Eric Turner, but it was Lloyd who was the player of the match.

Cwmbran Blues continue to challenge the leaders following their latest win over Blaenavon Aces by 27-3. For the Blues there were maximum 3 wins for Roger Grech, Bhargav Uday Chandra and Mark Farrow, but it was Grech who just edged the player of the match award.
