Congratulations must go to our E Team for winning Division Four and promotion!
The A Team was unable to retain its Premier Division crown, but there was consolation in Jake Collins retaining his CDTTL individual title for the third consecutive year; whilst Jake & Paul Broxton won the doubles; and Richard Hutchinson won the Veteran’s 40+.
The B Team achieved an upper half finish; and Team C their highest ever league position as a trio. Unfortunately, the D Team was relegated in bizarre circumstances after a fire in an adjacent building switched off the lights and curtailed their final match when winning 3-2. However, a 5 -5 draw was mutually agreed after consensus that they probably wouldn’t get the required points to stay up had they continued.
As regards the F team, it valiantly soldiered on and won a few matches, with some notable successes. Some individual players made huge advances in skill and ability before the season’s end and six ‘player of the match’ awards suggests greater things to come. Next year we are guaranteed to have a complete ‘league ladder’ with teams in division's Premier, One, Two, Three and Four, which means that everybody can compete at a level that best suits them. We have not had that benefit for a few years.
On behalf of the Committee I would like to thank all captains for their sterling work and everybody concerned. Practice nights will resume next Friday 1st April and will continue throughout the summer unless advised otherwise. Otherwise will the last person to leave the hall please "put out the lights".... Oh I see the Fire Brigade already did. Shame we didn't get a new roof as a result!
