The culmination of the 2nd round of fixtures from the top flight of the Doric Insurance sponsored senior leagues resulted in victories for both of the sides chasing the title, Lions A and Whistlers A.
Lions A are still mathematically top of the table due to games ratio, however they only managed to edge past Lions B 6-4 this week. Ben Foss was in top form for the league leaders due to his trio of singles wins over Phil Ogier, Ryan Bichard and Andre De Carteret. Paul Hainsworth and Dan Collenette each defeated Andre De Carteret and the pair also won a vital doubles match over De Carteret and Bichard in 5 sets to seal the points. Ogier and Bichard both competed well in earning singles wins over Hainsworth and Collenette.
Whistlers A were much more comfortable this week and ran out 8-2 winners over Whistlers C. Garry Dodd continued his unbeaten domestic season of singles matches with straight game wins over Lawrence Stacey, Ryan Gilson and Charlotte Casey. He also combined with Martin Sarre to defeat Stacey and Gilson over 4 sets in the doubles clash. Sarre and Mark Pipet each clinched wins over Gilson and Casey in singles action, with Pipet needing 5 sets to overcome Casey and Sarre the full distance against Gilson.
Whistlers B inflicted a heavy 9-1 defeat on the side at the foot of the table, Lions C in the remaining top flight fixture. Joshua Stacey and Matt Casey each took wins against Jamie Ferbrache, Ian Le Page and reserve Brian Ferbrache as well as combining to defeat Ferbrache and Le Page in straight sets in the doubles match. The remaining 2 victories for the Whistlers side came from their own reserve Ian Fitchet over Le Page and Brian Ferbrache.
