Lions A and Whistlers A posted matching 7-3 victories this week to ensure that the tussle at the top remains closely contested.

The Lions side still officially hold the top spot by virtue of having a better games ratio and their 7-3 win came over 5th placed side Whistlers C. Ben Foss continues to impress and defeated Lawrence Stacey, Ryan Gilson and Charlotte Casey for the loss of just 2 games. Dan Collenette added a 5 set win over Gilson and a straight set win over Casey on top of teaming with Foss to overcome Stacey and Casey over 4 sets in the doubles clash. Paul Hainsworth had a tough night at the office with defeats in 4 sets to Stacey and Gilson, but he picked up a 5 set win over Casey.

Whistlers A were given a good game by the bottom of the table side Lions C, who were missing Andy Gill and Ian Le Page. Garry Dodd was largely untroubled on the night and came through against reserves Terry Trustum and Brian Ferbrache in straight sets. Jamie Ferbrache gave the CI number 1 the best match, as he took the opening end of their encounter before going down in 4 well contested sets. Dodd also teamed with Mark Pipet to overcome Jamie and Brian in a straight sets doubles win. Pipet defeated Trustum in 4 sets and Brian in straight sets, whilst Martin Sarre added the 7th win when he beat Brian in straight sets. Jamie had an excellent evening as he managed to defeat both Pipet and Sarre, each over 5 ends. Trustum earned the other win for the Lions side courtesy of an impressive straight sets win over Sarre.

4th placed side Lions B had their best result of the season as they overcame 3rd placed side Whistlers B 6-4, a result that sees them move to within 2 points of the defeated Whistlers outfit. Phil Ogier was instrumental in the result as he was responsible for 3 of the 6 rubbers in question. He secured an excellent 4 set win over Joshua Stacey on top of comfortable straight sets wins over Matthew Casey and Sam Clark. Ryan Bichard is also showing good form and he overcame both Casey and Clark for the loss of just 1 game. He also extended Stacey to the full 5 sets in defeat. Andre De Carteret picked up the pivotal 6th win during the opening game of the night where he beat Clark over 4 sets.

Whistlers D hold a 3 point advantage at the top of the 2nd, but they have played a game more than their closest rivals Lions D. This week they were comfortable 8-2 winners over Lions F. Kay Chivers was unbeaten due to singles wins over Andrew Ferbrache, Brian Ferbrache and reserve Jonah Ingrouille. Keith Opie and Ellis Tomlin beat Brian and Ingrouille, but neither could get the better of Andy, who came through in 5 and 4 sets respectively. Chivers and Opie edged the doubles clash over Andy and Brian in 5 sets.
