JLM Hawks are heading towards the Evesham & District Specsavers Division 1 title after 2 more wins and with just 2 matches left to play. Hawks beat Bengeworth Purple 10-0 and then managed a 6-4 win against Littleton Clubs even though they were a player down. Clubs’ number one Craig Witheford was beaten for only the third time this season by Dave Harvey of Hawks. Harvey will finish number one in the player averages if he remains undefeated in his remaining matches.
Littleton Positives strengthened their position in second place with a 9-1 win against nearest rivals Wyre Elite, who were missing some key players on the night. James Morrow and Rob Sinderberry both won all their matches for Positives. The one victory for Elite came when Darrell Wiltshire fought back from 2-1 down to beat Robert Poole 13-11 in the final set.
Kington Blades moved up to 3rd place with a 6-4 win over JLM Dragonflies. Alan Cotton won 3 for Blades, all in straight sets.
Littleton Aces achieved back to back wins against Kington Bulldogs and JLM Dragonflies, with both matches ending 6-4. Andrew Taylor won 3 against Bulldogs. Mark Hale of Dragonflies beat Duncan Arrandale, Mark Bilsborrow and Saulius Breitaris but Arrandale and Bilsborrow won 2 each and then combined to seal the victory in the doubles, despite Hales and Ed Sommers taking a 2 set lead.
