In Evesham & District Specsavers Division 2, last year’s champions Wallace House Troopers failed to win for the first time in a year as they were held to a draw by Littleton Dolphins. Troopers were short of a player, which helped Dolphins, but the youngsters from Littleton also put in a terrific performance against experienced opposition. Dolphins’ Alistair Witheford ran Stef Mytton very close but lost in 5 sets. Jamie Chinn-Brown then took on Troopers’ Mandy Sylvester and another fiveset match went against the Littleton side. But Dolphins fought back in two more fiveset battles with Chinn-Brown beating Mytton and Witheford inflicting a first defeat of the season on Sylvester. Dolphins were in line for a win, but Sylvester and Mytton recovered to win the doubles convincingly and secure the draw.
Wallace House Troopers came back strongly in their next match, defeating Littleton Jackson Five 9-1.
Wyre Warriors’ winning run continued with 6-4 victories against both Littleton Giants and Wyre Barbedwyre. Warriors’ Michael Jones leads the Division 2 averages with 12 wins from 12 played.
Wyre Barbedwyre beat Littleton Jackson Five 7-3. John Buxton was Player of the Match with 3 wins.
