EDTTA Division 1 Report 7th December
Littleton Positives became the first team of this Specsavers Division 1 season to avoid defeat against Kington Blades. Positives’ Nick Mytton fought his way to 3 wins and then secured the draw via a doubles victory partnered by Doug Payne. Blades’ John Price took Mytton to 5 sets and Mytton also came back from 2-1 down to beat Alan Cotton.

Littleton Clubs are the new leaders of Specsavers Division 1, although the lead may be brief as Kington Blades have a game in hand. Clubs’ Dave Harvey is now the only player in the division with a 100% record.

Littleton Cobras ended a long series of defeats with a battling draw against Wallace House Hussars. Cobras’ Craig Witheford continues to impress in his first season in Division 1. He overcame all 3 opponents on this occasion, including a 5-set thriller against Luke Moffat.

Bengeworth Purple are also seeing improving results, with a recent win against Littleton Cobras and a draw against Kington Bulldogs. Bulldogs’ Andrew Smith was Player of the Match with 3 wins, but Purple’s Richard McGhee and Dougie Allan showed great resolve to turn around a 2-1 deficit in the doubles and grab the draw.
