5th December 2017 Match Reports

Due to maintenance work in Cwmbran Stadium there were only Division Two matches played this week in the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League. With every team having played each other once, the Division Two table is becoming clearer. Currently topping the Division are Cwmbran Dynamos, who in their latest match defeated Cwmbran Fellows 17-13 despite a player of the match performance from the Fellows' Wayne Ford with maximum wins. For the Dynamos, Alex Jones and Richard Lownsbrough picked up 2 wins each and Colin Scott, making a guest appearance, collected 5 points. For the Fellows, Haydn Skinner had 1 win in his 4 points.

The chasing pack are led by Cwmbran Panthers who beat Chepstow Chiefs 24-6. There were 3 wins each for the Panthers' Colin Price and Mike Blatchford, but it was Price who edged the player of the match award. There were also 2 wins for Howard Gaut. For the Chiefs, Connor Pyke fought hard for his 1 win in his 5 points.

The battle for 3rd place is being very closely fought with 7 points covering 4 teams. Currently leading this group are North Gwent Cougars, following their 21-12 win over Cwmbran Devils.  Once again the player of the match was the Cougars Greg Price with maximum wins. He was well supported by Garin Edwards with 2 wins and Sam Slatter with 5 points. For the Devils, Roshan Rai battled well for his 2 wins, but failed in his attempt to inflict a first defeat of the season on Price. The Devils' Stan Williams also fought hard for his 5 points.
