14th April 2015 Match Report

The last 3 matches of the Eastern Valley League 2014/15 season were played this week. In Division One Cwmbran Blues were looking to secure the runners up spot against Cwmbran Colts, which they did by winning 19-12. For the Colts Lee Thomas took the player of the match award with 3 wins with only David Lloyd managing to take a set off Thomas. However, a good overall team performance from the Blues saw them through with 2 wins each for David Lloyd, Mark Farrow and Ray Goulding.

Going into their final match in Division 2, Cwmbran Dynamos needed 19 points against Cwmbran Eccentrics to secure the runner up spot. This they did in winning 23-9 with only the Eccentrics' Peter Alderson providing a challenge by winning 2 matches. Once again a player of the match performance from the Dynamos Alex Jones with 3 wins backed up by team mates Alson Limbu and Will Smith-Haddon secured the win.

The final match in Division Two between Blaenavon Bulldogs and Cwmbran Devils which was worth double points as they had 2 matches outstanding against each other, but, there was only an opportunity to play once. The final result was a 22-14 win for the Devils for whom Stan Williams, following his recent success at the Western Masters over 80's Plate event, was player of the match with 3 wins.

That concludes the League season with congratulations to Bristol Nomads and Cwmbran Panthers on winning the Division One and Division Two titles respectively. Now its the usual end of season Tournament with the Division One Singles groups and quarter-finals being held on Tuesday 21st April.
