10th MARCH 2015 MATCH REPORT

In Division One of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League there was one match completed from the previous week and it was an 18 - 18 drew between Cwmbran Blues and Cwmbran Aztecs. Tony Collins (Aztecs) beat Mark Farrow (Blues) to secure the draw for his team.

As per last week there was another match that could not be completed by the finishing time between Cwmbran Colts and the Aztecs, which will be completed next week.

Bristol Nomads have almost certainly secured the Division One title after their 21 - 13 victory over their nearest rivals the Blues. There was a player of the match performance from the Nomads' Mike Bishop with his 3 wins and good back up from their guest player Ray Goulding, who beat the higher ranked David Lloyd.

In Division Two the anticipated match between the 2nd and third placed sides did not take place and will now be played on the 31st March.

With the top team, Cwmbran Panthers, having a bye it was left to the sides battling for the minor places. The expected close match took place between Cwmbran Devils and Cwmbran Eccentrics with 7 of the matches going to 4 or 5 sets. In the end it was the Eccentrics who prevailed 21-16 thanks to a player of the match performance from Lincoln Alford closely followed by Peter Alderson as both players secured 3 wins each.

The other match in Division Two saw the bottom side Blaenavon Bulldogs gaining a good win over Cwmbran Fellows 18 - 16. It was a good all round team performance from the Bulldogs and included a very good win for Callum Hunt over the higher ranked Glenda Prytherch.
