Matfen B v Comets
Comets gave Jack Pugh his debut for his first 3rd division game against an experienced Matfen team of Nigel Tree, John Henderson and Mark Perrin. He was joined by Nigel Coe and Peter Whitfield. Nigel Tree proved to be MVP winning all his games in 3 ends and with John took the doubles. Nigel Coe was unlucky in taking two games to 5 ends but couldn’t finish them off. Jack Pugh was not out of his depth and took an end off John in a close game but the only game to go to Comets was Peter’s win against Mark giving them one point in a 9-1 defeat.
Aces V Matfen A
Aces had regulars Ian McAllister Jon Mawson and Duncan Fraser against Alex Holliday Rob Carr and Steve Oxley for Matfen. It was a tight match with 4 players taking 2 matches each, Ian Jon and Duncan for Aces and Alex for Matfen, Steve also took a match and with the Matfen team of Alex and Steve taking the doubles the game finished 6-4 to the Aces.
