Comets v Redby A

Another tough game for Comets against one of the stalwarts of Division 2 Redby A.

Colin Pritchard and Peter Whitfield were joined by Matt Greenwood against the very experienced Redby team of Malcolm Deneven, Amanda Paxton and Tony Watson. Only 3 games were complete in 3 ends with 5 going to 4 ends and 2 to 5 ends, with both Matt and Colin causing problems to the Redby team, however the experience of the Redby team proved invaluable and they closed all the games out to take a 10 – 0 win despite a spirited performance from the Comets team.

St Gabriels E V Eagles

St Gabriel’s are doing a good job of introducing new players into the league and played two of their newcomers, Joe Miller and Johnny Haynes along with regular Derek Buller against the youngsters of Eagles, Jack Pugh, Haydn Williamson and Ross Clennell. St Gabriel’s started off well taking the first four singles games but 2 were 5 enders. Eagles now hit back with Jack Pugh and Ross Clennell taking the doubles but with Joe taking the next game it gave Gabriel’s a 5-1 lead. However Jack Pugh started a run of 3 successive victories with each of the Eagles notching a victory to take the match to 5-4. However even though Jack took the first end in the final game Joe proved his MVP position winning the next three, and giving St Gabriel’s a 6-4 victory in a very close game.
