Silksworth A v Comets

Comets travelled with regulars Colin Pritchard, Peter Whitfield and stepping up from the Eagles Haydn Williamson. The well established Silksworth A team played Howard Brown, Bob Sanderson and Graham Sleep. The match was competitive with 5 going to 4 ends or greater, but Bob for Silksworth took MVP and was supported by Howard who took 3 but was taken all the way by Colin in his match. The only comets win was a tremendous tussle between Graham and Peter, with Peter coming back from 2-0 down to take the next three ends and give Comets their only point in a 9-1 defeat. Special mention to Haydn who stepped up a division but didn’t look out of place taking 2 ends against the experienced opposition.

Bombers v West A

With the loss of one of their most successful players Bombers are really struggling after their promotion to Division 1 and this was evident in this result where they played a well established Division 1 team and struggling for players drafted in a Comets player who was playing in Division 3 last year. West with the improving youngster Adam Webster with two experienced players Bernie Morris and Ken Lee. Bombers had their young captain Dan Hutchinson with Nigel Coe and debutant Colin Pritchard. The game went to West 10-0 with only Dan offering any real resistance and leaves Bombers in a perilous position at the bottom of the league

Eagles v Backspin B

The youngsters of Eagles were always going to struggle against Backspin B team who were pipped to promotion last season and must be one of the favourites this year with the experienced John Cook, the excellent left hander Adam Butler and the improving Lyndsey Beacham. The score does not reflect the competitiveness of the game with Jack Pugh taking Lyndsey to 5 ends, Luke Dumighan taking John to 5 and Lyndsey to 4 and with Harry Veitch playing some really good rallies in his games but the 10-0 result leaves Eagles struggling in the bottom half of the table.
