Brandon B v Chargers

A game between relative newcomers to the league Brandon B and the experienced Chargers Team. Brandon B had young guns Becca Harrison and Jamie Lupton with Caroline Lee against Peter Whitfield, Barry Dingwall and Dennis Jennings.

Played in a terrific sporting manner with some super rallies particularly in the game between Caroline and Dennis. However the experience of Chargers came through with Peter Whitfield winning all his games and the doubles with Dennis, Dennis taking two and Barry taking one. Jamie performed best for Brandon winning two, and in a terrific 5 ender, Caroline beat Barry, but Chargers came through to win 7-3 .

Bombers v Birtley           

Bombers in their first game deployed Peter Smallcombe, Max Duffin and added Nigel Coe for the team against a very experienced team from Birtley who played John Rowell Michael Bradley and Eddie Kennedy. Peter and Max proved invincible on the night winning all their single games and also taking the doubles leaving a difficult decision for player of the match but on count back was given to Max Duffin. Nigel supported well with a win over Eddie to give Bombers an 8-2 and after 2 games it puts Bombers at the top of the table.

Desperadoes v Cramlington Lions

Division 5 is proving a real platform for teams entering new players into competitive play, and this game was no exception with both Cramlington Lions and Desperadoes fielding players who have never played before. The Lions team of Michael Mastaglio, Callum French and Thomas Clark were all new to the league and with Michael Lishman making his debut for Desperadoes joining Neil Coulthard in only his second game and the more regular John Reid an interesting and competitive match was played.

The only Desperadoes successes were John Reid and Michael Lishman and with Matthew winning all three and taking the doubles with Thomas, Lions won 8-2.
