Max Duffin v John Foster handicap Singles

Unfortunately John Foster from Silksworth had no answer to the power of Max Duffin from Chargers who took the game in three ends. John was handicapped with a 2-0 start to Max who hardly needed it as he played a strong game of attacking table tennis taking every opportunity to force John back and make him work from side to side. John played well on his serve making it difficult for Max to start his power game but on Max’s serve Max went for the 3rd shot attack and won point after point. Who will be Max’s next opponent after his 3-0 win

Chargers v Lanchester B

Chargers had regulars Peter Whitfield Terry Charlton and Max Duffin against John Cook, Adam Butler and Tom Firth. Chargers were handicapped in all the games which made it a close and competitive game. Player of the match was Max who won all three and needed the final game against John Cook as the game was 4-4 at that stage, but he clawed back the handicap and took the game in two ends. Games of note were Peter against Adam when Peter went 1 up 24-22, crumbled in the second end, 21-13 but came back strongly in the final before succumbing 23-21. Tom Firth showed what a talent he is by displaying his full repertoire of shots, unfortunately he didn’t win any games but did take an end off Terry. The game ended 5-4 to Chargers who move into the next round after a tough match

Bombers v Desperadoes

This interclub cup tie was played in a really good spirit with 5 games going the full distance. Matt Greenwood showed his credentials as a promising addition to the club by winning all his games for the Desperadoes. He was really stretched in his games against Dan Nicholson and Lee Maher but came through those and won the final game against Dan Hutchinson. However John Reid and Nigel Duffin struggled with their handicaps and although they kept the games close they couldn’t manage to win a game, leaving Bombers 6-3 winners and going into the next round.
