Brandon Crocodiles v Comets

Comets have got off to an excellent start in the league with their quest for promotion and with Colin Pritchard, Nikki Irwin and Matt Greenwood travelled to Brandon to take on Steve Pattinson, Becca Harrison and Chris Leishman. They won all their games but the last one, where Steve took Colin to 5 ends before taking the only Brandon success of the night in a 9-1 win to Comets.

St Gabriels A V Aces

Aces took regulars Duncan Fraser, Ian McAllister and Jon Mawson to St Gabriels ‘A’ who had their reliable team of George Gibson, Duncan Wraight and Norman Pescod. It was a tough night for Aces and even though 7 games went to 4 or 5 ends the only success was Ian McAllister who beat George Gibson in 5 ends in the first game of the night, Aces going down 9-1

Eagles v Brandon Bees

Eagles were unlucky to meet one of the top teams in form. The Lupton brothers and Caroline Lee were unstoppable against the youngsters of Jack Pugh Haydn Williamson and Luke Dumighan and won 10-0

St Gabriels C V Bombers

Geoff Young, Steve Young and Mark Burton were no match for the improving youngsters of Bombers, Dan Hutchinson and Max Duffin who were joined by Ian Mcpherson in a comprehensive defeat of the Saint Gabriels team who went down 9-1 enabling the Sacriston team to maintain their position at the top of the league.

Desperadoes v Brandon D

What a competitive game this was going right down to the last game, with the lead going one and the other and the final match not only deciding the result but also the player of the match. Brandon with the attacking Ryan Morton and steady John Parkin were joined by new to the league this year Ian Cumpson. With John Reid retiring, Desperadoes are looking more to the father and son combination Nigel and Sam Duffin to support Kevin Richardson in his first season of competitive play. Brandon chased down an initial lead to the Sacriston team and were leading 5-4 going into the final match between the two unbeaten players Ryan Morton and Kevin Richardson, and this was the longest game of the night going the full 5 ends, but eventually Kevin with his solid defence overcame the fast driving play of Ryan to make it a result of 5-5 and Kevin player of the match.
