Silksworth B V Chargers

Chargers need to make an impact from the start as they are chasing promotion this year, and they travelled to Silksworth not knowing the strength of the opposition with the talented 13 year old Max Duffin, the experienced Peter Whitfield and new to the league Paul Salkeld. Silksworth had the regulars of George Carlyon, John Foster and newcomer Miroslaw Godlenski.

Player of the match was Max Duffin who took all his matches without dropping an end, one game of note was his top spin lobs against George Carlyon which resulted in some tremendous rallies usually ending up with George eventually missing the smash. Paul was particularly unlucky in his first competitive game but he will only get better with more games under his belt. With Peter Whitfield winning his three and taking the doubles with Max, Chargers came away with a 7-3 win to take three points.

Bombers v Silksworth A

A tough first game for Bombers against one of the favourites for promotion from the second division Silksworth A. Bombers had Dan Nicholson Dan Hutchinson and Nigel Coe against Alan Bickle, Howard Brown and left hander Graham Sleep. Many games went the full distance and one of the best was Nigel Coe going down in the last end 14-12 to Howard Brown who ended up as player of the match winning all his games but each of the Bombers took one game each to take a valuable point in a 7-3 defeat( remember in this league you get one point if you get beat 7-3 or 6-4)

Eagles v East Boldon B

This game proved a repeat of games played in the Durham friendly league in the summer with East Boldon travelling with Peter Smallcombe and Jordan Dove aided by Bruce Davison playing the Eagles team of Charlie Coates, Luke Dumighan and Jack Pugh. Again Peter Smallcombe proved why is one of the best young players around by winning all his games and taking the doubles with Jordan but with Jack Pugh and Luke Dumighan  winning 2 for the Eagles they took  a worthy point in a 6-4 defeat.

Desperadoes v Lanchester B

A tough start to the season for Desperadoes with Lanchester turning up a strong team with Tom Firth Adam Butler and the very experienced John Cook. Desperadoes had John Reid Haydn Williamson and debutant to the league Jack Preston. Games were close and Both Haydn and Kack improved as the evening went on but unfortunately John Reid was the only success in beating Tom Firth giving a 9-1 defeat and no points to the Desperadoes
