Aces V NECA A

Aces have packed their final 5 games into two weeks to make sure they are out of the way before being affected by the Summer Holidays and it has really helped them strengthen their hold on the top of the table and now after completing all their fixtures, they are 34 points ahead of nearest rivals North Fire who have 4 games in hand and must win every game by 9-1 to beat the Aces to the title.

In their final game of the season against NECA A Waldemar again took player of the match taking all singles again without dropping an end and backed up by the doubles win, and Ian McAllister taking 3 and Jon Mawson taking 1, a comfortable 8-2 was the final result.

Well done and heres hoping they take the championship as well to complete a remarkable season for them

Bombers v Matfen B

A crucial game between competing teams at the top of Division 3. Bombers turned out the young Dan Hutchinson who is proving his match against the best in the league, the ever reliable Ian McPherson and Simon Hackett in only his second summer league match against Matfens B Alexander Holiday and David Swann who are in the top three averages for the league joined by John Henderson who is just outside the top 10.

Player of the match went to Simon Hackett who won all three singles and the doubles with Ian and Ian and Dan winning 2 singles each, a comprehensive win gave Bombers an 8-2 win to give them a useful boost in their quest for promotion .

NECA B v Chargers

A mid table clash with only pride at stake as nether team can affect league positions from this match. Chargers had Barry Dingwall, Peter Whitfield and John Reid against Nick Yuen, Norman Patrick and John Gallagher. Peter took all his singles matches only dropping one end to take player of the match and with Barry and John taking 1 each for Chargers, it ended up a 5-5 draw with Nick and John Gallagher combining to take the doubles for NECA B.

Blazes v Sonics

Sonics needed to get points on the board to maintain their hopes of taking the runners up spot in the Durham league and with a relatively inexperienced team against mature opponents it didn’t look good. Jack Pugh put up his usual combative performance to take a game and with debutant Matt Hutchinson also taking a game they came away with a valuable 2 points. Chris Jenning with his usual measured game was unlucky and although he took ends in some games couldn’t turn these into a win.

Blues v Nomads

Blues needed all 10 points to have a hope of catching the Sonics but with Nomads turning out the three reliable players of John Reid, Geoff Sykes and Charlie Miller they were going to struggle. With John Reid taking all three games Geoff Sykes taking 2 and with John taking the doubles the Nomads ran out 6-4 winners.

Desperadoes FQ Ouston B P P

Aces are in control of the Division 2 championship . They have completed all their games and are 29 points ahead of the nearest challengers who have 3 games in hand and therefore need to win all their games 10-0

Desperadoes are probably going to lose all their points against Ouston B because two teams have postponed games against Desperadoes  and as Desperadoes had to postpone against Ouston, one of the rules of the league states that you cannot have three postponed games so they lose the games. . Strange rule, but we joined the league and accepted the consequences .
