This gives Haydn a 13 point start in his games .
Another singles game taking lace sometime this week is
John Foster (Durham C A 'A') 33 v Ian McAllister (Sacriston Aces) 18 which means Ian is giving John a 9 point start. The winner of this game plays Sam Duffin

Lanchester v Chargers
A terrific game of table tennis that took over three hours to complete with Chargers fielding Barry Dingwall, John Reid and Peter Whitfield against the very experienced John Cook, and the two talented youngsters Thaaqib Salim and Seb Seccombe. John Cook was unbeaten over the night and aided by Seb Seccombe took the doubles against  Peter Whitfield and Barry Dingwall, but he was taken all the way by Barry Dingwall who had him against the wall at 2-1 up and 10-6 up in the fourth end but he came back to level with a score of 13-11 and then he took the final end 11-8. Thaaqib put up a tremendous show in his game against Peter Whitfield twice coming from behind to level but he couldn’t quite make the final end and it went 11-7 to Peter who also beat Seb over 4 ends. Barry defeated Seb to give the Chargers 3 games and a point. John Reid played some terrific table tennis but was unlucky in all his games. Lanchester took 3 points in their 7-3 win, Seb Seccombe voted Player of the match for his positive attitude throughout the game.
Cram Jaguars  v Comets
After the defeat against Newcastle Communities, Comets needed a return to winning ways to keep promotion hopes on track. They turned out Colin Pritchard, Terry Charlton and Nikki Irwin against Mick Sursnam Ken Brown and Aubrey Drapkin. The games were very close with a number of them going to 5 ends but with Colin and Terry winning all of their  singles and Nikki winning 2 they ran out 8-2 winners.

Desperadoes v St Johns A
If the League 3 runaway leaders were looking for an easy night against the bottom team, it didn’t pan out quite as easy as they were expecting. St Johns A fielding Craig Burton, Lynda Todd and Mike Hampshire were playing Oliver Turnbull, Max Duffin and Aidan McKie. Oliver Turnbull took the first game against Lynda before she adjusted her game to cope with Oliver’s attacking fore hand drives and took the next three ends. Craig had a real tussle with Aidan trying to overcome his consistent defence but beat him over three ends. The next game started with Mike taking the first game against the attacking Max Duffin, but Max moved to a more defensive style and took the next three games to win 3-1. The doubles were easily taken by  St Johns, but Oliver put Mike Hampshire to the test and took him to 5 ends before Mike came through. The rest of the games went to St Johns but they were very complimentary about the effort, attitude and approach to the game by all the Desperadoes. Player of the match Max Duffin. Result 1-9
Dan Hutchinson(Sacriston) v Jacob Helm(St Gabriels )
This was a terrific handicap singles game with both players taking every opportunity to show off their attacking prowess.  Dan with his solid around approach started well and took the first game well within his handicap allowance but in the second game Jacob came back and drives that were missing in the first game were hitting the table and he came back to win 21-18. In the third end Dan again played with a steady approach and with Jacobs erratic shots, Dan again took it easily. The 4th game was the same as the 2nd drawing the game level at 2-2, and it left all down the final end. Rallies were longer as both players were very cagey in their approach. However Jacob’s more powerful attacking play gave him the edge closing out the game 21-18 to end up winning 3-2.
Terry Charlton(Sacriston) V Joe Muldowney(Redby )
This was always going to be tough for Terry against a well experienced opponent who has one of the best stats in his league. Terry started off well and kept his own score ticking along but Joe’s exceptional defensive skills kept rallies going until Terry was tempted to go for the attacking shot which allowed Joe to put in a killer return.  Joe won the first game 21-14 but was really up against it in the second when Terry came back from 16-19 down to draw at 19-19, before Joe eventually took the final two points 21-19. The third end was evenly  fought upto 16-16 but then Joe took control to win five of the next 6 points taking the match 3-0.
Peter Whitfield(Sacriston) v Dave Bissett(St Gabriels)
With the generous handicap that Peter had this game should have been no problem, but Dave Bissett wasn’t going to give up easily. He struggled in the first game and lost it easily 21-9 but he changed his tactics in the next two and matched and bettered Peters defensive lay but unfortunately winning 2 out of 3 points wasn’t enough to overcome the handicap. Some of the rallies were extraordinarily long, one being counted at over 50 shots, but eventually Peter ran out the winner 3-0.
