Poww wins U12 National Cup

Draycott & Long Eaton’s star U/12 player Poww Boonyaprapa was selected to compete in the National Under 12 Cup held at the Central Lancashire University in Preston.

Poww was the top seed as he was ranked No.1 in England at U/12 and was up against all the other top ten ranked players in the country so the pressure was on in this tough round robin format played over two days.

On the first day Poww was cruising winning all five of his matches 3-0 and so led the competition at the half way stage but the 2nd day was always going to be much tougher against the other top seeded player

Day 2 began again with another 3-0 win but in his next match against No. 4 seed Jake Grayson Poww lost the first end 11-8 but then came back to win 11-6, 11-6, 11-6.

In his 8thmatch he then faced the 3rd seed Ben Piggott from Cleveland and suffered his first loss of the tournament going down 3-1.

The final match saw Poww face No.2 seed Felix Thomis in a shootout for the title and it did not start well with Poww losing the first two ends 9-11, 12-14 but he was not done yet as he dug deep and fought back to win 11-8, 11-9, 11-8 and secure the Under 12 National Cup title.
