Draycott Women’s 1st team

Last weekend saw three women’s teams Representing Draycott in the final weekend of this seasons Women’s
British League.

This is the first year Draycott have put three teams into the league and all three had a great weekend

The first team of Emma Vickers ( 6) Abbie Milwain (10) Alice Loveridge (14) Natalie Slater (16) came into the second weekend in 2nd place in the premier division behind Ormsby both teams beat all other teams in the division to set up a final match  to become the premiership winners Emma was first up however lost a close match 3-0 to Maria Tsaptsino (8) Abbie then took on England’s commonwealth player Karina Le fever (4) however again went down 3-0 despite a close 11-9 in the 3rd.  Alice then played French international  Sarah Berge (16) who had lost Ormsbys only set in the first weekend to Emma. Alice had no answer to Sarah’s defence coupled with full out attack. With Ormsby at 3-0 up Emma then took on Karina. The pair had been meeting in the grand prix finals for the last three events with Karina leading 2-1 it again went Karina’s way with Emma losing 3-1. Alice then took on Maria and played some stunning rallies to win 3-1 and get a “rubber on the board” for Draycott. Finally Abbie played Sarah who again proved too strong winning 3-0 to give the
title to Ormsby. It was 4 second places for Draycott in the last 4 years and proves how strong both teams are as Ormsby won all 20 matches with Draycott winning 18 just losing to Ormsby.

Womens 2nd    team

The second team of ex Latvian international Inta ( 24) Jane Vickers  (65) and three of Draycott’s top junior girls
Olivia Churchill (  junior 13) Amy Humphreys (Junior 9) and kate Cheer ( junior 11)  playing in the 2nd division went into the second weekend in 2nd place however after two matches beating both Holton and Chippenham they moved into 1st place despite losing there only match of the two weekends to Leeds the results went there way to set up a final showdown with ping pong south west with the team needing just a
draw to take the second division title the 1stgame was a tense 5 set match  between Jane and Letitia McMullen
with the 5th going Letitia’s way 11-8 Inta then took on wales Naomi Jackson and was a comfortable 3-0 winner to take the match to 1-1 Jasmin johns then beat kate in 4 sets with Inta then losing to Letitia all looked lost at 1-3 however jane then played a titanic match against Jasmin underlining  why she was a top ten senior player winning the final end 14-12 with some outstanding attacking play.
This set up 14 year old kate to take on Naomi with kate showed some why England have been picking her in the under 15’s with some mature table tennis to take the game 3-1and secure the title and promotion to div 1.

Womens 3rd team

The 3rd team played in division 4 had five of Draycott junior girls Nicole bird ( junior 7) Isabelle Joubelly (
junior 14) Lauren Evens ( junior 37) and Bhavika Mistry ( junior 30) making up the side with kate moving out of this team to deputise in the 2nd team for the absent Amy Humphreys they had a great weekend setting up a final showdown between York and Draycott 3rd with Draycott needing the win to take the title. It proved too big a task against the stronger older more experienced opponents despite Lauren beating Silvia Trentil 11-4 in the 5th and Isabelle beating Linellis Kazimieraityte 11-4 in the 4th they still lost 4-2 to come second and promotion to division 3 with 8 wins out of 10 games.
