Daish beaten by seed in Portugal

Matthew Daish reached the main draw of the Portugal Junior & Cadet Open, where he was beaten by the seventh seed.

Daish, 17, won two of his three group matches in the Junior Boys’ Singles to make it through to the last 32, where he was beaten by Tiago Li of the host nation in four straight.

In the doubles, Daish and Iran’s Mohammad Amin Samadi were beaten in the first round by a Spanish pair.

Daish will compete in the team competition starting tomorrow, while Josh Weatherby will be in the Cadet team and individual events, which also begin tomorrow.
